Welcome sweet baby!

We found out recently that two sets of good friends are expecting their third child (or children, or child.... oh, grammar...). What exciting news!!!
In lieu of such good news, I decided to make a few baby cards. Not knowing the sex yet, I went with more of a girly theme for the first few. I'll probably make a few boys cards in the near future, just to cover my basis :)
The card is made for Crazy for Challenges Week 8. The challenge was geometry; use three of any shape on the card. I kept mine pretty simple but I did use 4 circles :)

Again, a fairly simple card but I like the end result. Plus, it was easy to put together, especially after my marathon Mojo Monday card :)
Thanks so much for stopping by for a looky-loo :) I really appreciate it!

Brrr.....

Boy, it's wet and cold outside today. Rainy, chilly - the kind of day that makes you want to put on some warm clothes, thick fuzzy socks and curl up on the sofa in front of the tv. Hummm.... perhaps that's what I ended up doing after work :) Soooo comfy :)
Today, I've got a card for Mojo Monday Week 110. I used one of my favorite color combinations - chocolate and aqua. Holy moly, it took me FOR-EVER to put this card together. Despite having the sketch to guide me, I still managed to take 3 1/2 hours to make this one - and this wasn't the first attempt :) I still have the components of take #1 set aside, ready to put together. Just wasn't feeling that one - hopefully I can find a way to salvage it.

Hope everyone is having a super-d-duper week!
Thanks so much for stopping by to take a peek :)

A 3D two-fer

It's good to be home. Just got back from a week long business trip in Memphis - it was great to catch up with people I hadn't seen in years. We ate great BBQ and went to a few blues bars after the days of meetings. But, boy, a few nights like that just took it out of me :)
So what better place to relax than in the craft room? I decided to make a card for a few challenges. The JUGs challenge this week is to add a 3D flower as a design element. To help you with the challenge, Mona Pendleton has an awesome video on the JUGs site demonstrating how to make a great tissue paper flower. I also went with the colors provided by Dawn McVey for the Raspberry Suite Challenge #18.
I really love Kristin Bueter's inspiration card for the challenge - she took the flower and turned it into a wreath. How great is that idea?!?! If you like this card, please check out hers since it was all her creativity - I just mirrored it :)

I did follow Mona's video tutorial - I inked up my brayer with new leaf and rolled it over tissue paper (actually, it came with a previous Papertrey ink order so I feel good about recycing :)). Then I used the blossom nesties to cut out the wreath. I also cut out the center with the smallest nestie. I added some raspberry fizz ribbon for the bow. I also added a few "berries" - put a dollop of glue on top of a few brads and dipped in glitter. I've gotten away from adding dimensionals to my Christmas cards just for the simple fact that I have to mail A LOT of them (especially to Canada) so I want them to hold up to the process and not be too bulky.
Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

You're so sweet....

Crazy... I actually posted a card that is NOT seasonal :) Oh I wanted to... but my everyday button bits from PTI was calling to me (LOVE this set), as was this awesome DP, cherry cobbler by Basic Grey. The sketch is Crazy 4 Challenges week 7 (C4C7).  It is a great sketch - I really want to make another card.... but I have to go to Memphis on Tues for business (gone until Fri - sniff - hate being away from the hubs) and there are things that need to get done before then (like laundry :)). Perhaps I'll sneak away for an hour or so later...
Here's the sketch and my card -

I love curving the sentiments - dunno why :) Maybe I like "round"... I wonder if that means something psychiatrically speaking!?!? (he, he!)
Again, such a fun sketch. So many great challenges... so little time :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!

More Season's Greetings

*** Hey all - for those who have tried to leave comments... so sorry. Apparently the ads were hampering the comment process (Huge thanks Kristin Bueter for working through the frustrating process to let me know :)).  It's real nice to read encouraging, supportive and constructive comments so hopefully it's fixed now. I've also posted my email address on the side for another way to contact me (it isn't a direct link - prevents spambots from sending me junk mail) ***

It's been a few days since I've had the chance to play - work's kept me pretty busy. I was able to get into the craft room to shift focus and it was soooo nice. Ahhhh, so soothing... But I'm sure you all know what I mean :)
I finally got to play along with the Just Us Girls Challenge - Yeah!

They've had 2 weeks of challenges already and this is the first time I managed to get a card together. I went crazy, I made two :) I'm still a bit short for Christmas cards so my theme was decided. Plus, I L-O-V-E Christmas so making cards for this season is hardly a chore. I wish I were more of a Halloween person as the Halloween projects I've seen while blurking are awesome!

I like this first card the best of the two, I think. There are poinsettias stamped on the aqua mist cardstock in vintage cream under the scalloped vintage cream cardstock, however, it's a bit hard to see in the pic.

I sure so love the patterned paper on this second one :) It's so pretty.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by the blog!

A new look :)

Well, after only a few months of blogging, I decided that I wanted a new look over here at the ol' blogo. Hopefully, I'll keep this layout for a while 'cause it's a bit of work to switch it all over and customize it, especially when you're no html whiz (like me :)).
Anywho, hope all my fellow Canucks had a happy Thanksgiving this past weekend. We celebrated on Sunday with friends - good company and yummy food - what can more can you ask for? We've certainly got so much to be thankful for :)
Here's another card made to fit two separate challenges... Mojo Monday 108 and Crazy for Challenges Week 6. The C4C challenge this week is to create a card with a thankful theme. I went to one of my favs - vintage picnic from PTI.

The background was stamped with background basics: retro from PTI. The basket was paper pieced and the pumpkins colored with copics (have I mentioned I love my copics? :)).

I plan on actually taking part in the Just Us Girls Challenge and this card would work with the paper piecing, buuuutttt, I really want to make another card :) For anyone who hasn't, please check out this new challenge blog run but a lot of talented ladies!
Thanks so much for stopping by the new digs!

Blog candy!!!!

Happy Friday! It is a beautiful day here. Found this great blog candy over at Twinkles Glow with Stamps.... I mean, look at all those goodies!!! They're giving prospective winners until Oct 30 to enter so there's lots of time left. Have a great day :)

C4C

Hello all - happy hump day :) Just two more days till the weekend. We've got a busy one coming up - we're hosting a Canadian Thanksgiving celebration on Sun (the real Canadian Thanksgiving is on Mon, Oct 12). We've got about 20 people coming, several of whom are Canadians. Mostly, it's just a time to get together and socialize :) I was out walking the dogs tonight - a really nice way to wind down a busy day. It was gorgeous! I love this time of year - cooler evenings; crisp, fresh air; leaves changing color... I have to say that fall here at the foot of the Smokies is preeeeetty. It makes me want to be outside all the time. I've got a card to share for the latest Crazy 4 Challenges . This week, the challenge was to incorporate stitching into the card. Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by to take a look. Thanks so fun for any and all comments - they are very much appreciated! TTFN, --------------------------------------------------------------- Ingredients (all PTI unless otherwise indicated): Stamps: winter swirls, background basics: retro Ink: enchanted evening, colorbox white pigment ink, colorbox light purple pigment ink Paper: enchanted evening, lavender moon, spring rain, white Other: nesties, twine, crystal stickles (on a few of the background snowflakes), spring rain button, sewing machine

WCMD Challenge - Australia

The fourth and final destination is Australia. This one was quite challenging for me (that's funny since a "challenge" is the name of the game!) - what I finally settled on was a picture of aboriginal art for the patterned paper. I love the colors in the picture. I did used a dotted outline from my vintage labels PTI set :) I distressed the edges of my Orange zest card stock to coordinate with the feathery appearance of the artwork. So glad I managed to finish these up. Whew, so rarely get through more than one card - I'm very slow and deliberate - which is actually so different for me in most other circumstances :) Go figure... I really wanted to participate in the Just Us Girls Challenge hosted by Kristen and Pam but just couldn't fit it in. I'll definitely do the next one. Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look! WCMD Challenge - India

The third stop on the PTI World Card Making tour is India. I went really CAS with this one. I chose a Henna design as my main feature. I know Henna isn't unique to India but I liked the design. WCMD Challenge - Mexico

I love the vibrant colors associated with the next inspiration country in the PTI World Card Making Day Challenge- Mexico. When thinking about what I wanted to do, an "Aztec" type theme kept coming to mind so that's what I went with, at least with the background. I found a design online then replicated it to make patterned paper - easy peasy. This was my first "digital paper" - lots of firsts today :) Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look! WCMD Challenge - Japan

My first entry for PTI's World Card Making Day Challenge is Japanese inspired. I really wanted to try some free-hand art with this one. I also used my brayer for the first time :) Fun all around. I brayered memento brown dye ink with a circle mask onto photo paper. Then I removed the circle mask, and brayered memento tangelo dye ink over that. I used copics to draw the branch, leaves and blossoms. It was so much fun and so easy. I finished off with a punch of rasperry fizz ribbon. Anyway, here's my card... I have to say I'm really happy with how this turned out. I wasn't so sure since I was free-handing it but I's definitely do something like this again. This was my favorite of the cards I made today. I can't believe I pumped out four cards!!!! They are CAS as you'll see but I just couldn't pass up the chance to win PTI goodies :) Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look!
