Spring... at least on my card

In eastern TN this weekend we had a mild snowfall, which has now given way to wet weather. I love having a nice snowfall, but when it turns into more of a rain or is a mixture of rain and snow, blech! At least it's not freezing rain, at least yet.
Well, this weeks Play Date Cafe Creativity Challenge made me think of spring. Such pretty colors. So I modeled my card after the inspiration picture.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Given the weather, I'm going to spend a bit of time cleaning, work out at home, then spend some quality time with my stamps...oh, yeah, and my hubby  ;) Just kidding, he always comes first!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

A little late :(

I am a day late and a dollar short... maybe not a day but definitely an hour. I was trying all week to get around to the JUGs challenge and met an obstacle everywhere. Doh!!!!
Oh well, I'll share it anyway :) It was a template challenge this week - I don't do a ton of templates so it's so nice to do something a bit different.

I used Lauren Meader's Cutsey Cover. She's opened her own online store, My Time Made Easy, and she still makes her fabulous templates. Now though you can buy them in multiple formats, including SVG which can be used with a cricut! How awesome is that?!?! And indeed, that's what I did for this template, which is actually free in her shop if you want to try one out.
I used my brand, spaking new Blooming button bits stamp set from PTI. The flowers are stamped in terra cotta tile. I also used a little technique that was a previous JUGs challenge - the chalkboard technique. I so love it! I stamped leaves from Turning a New Leaf (also PTI) and then coated them with chalk using a brush. The sentiment is also from Blooming Button Bits. I finsihed it off with some terra cotta tile ribbon.

The front...

The back.
So much fun, just wish I coulda been on time :(
The weekend is approaching - Yay!!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Doggie doo and flowers....

Interesting title huh? Well read on... if your really averse to doggie doo then please skip to the card :)
Hope this Tuesday is treating you well. My Monday started out wonderfully. I had my annual review at work and it was so encouraging! It was awesome :) So my happy mood has carried over until today.
It wasn't all roses though - that's where the first part of post title comes in. My poor Spencer was up every 2 hours asking to go outside. Poor guy had profuse diarrhea :( We just got the dogs back from the kennel after vacation and I think we may have overdone it spoiling them.... whoops.... My hubby ran into work early this morning and picked up some anti-diarrheal medication (he's a vet :)) and he's doing MUCH better now.

Onto the flowers part of the post...thank goodness, you say :) I managed to finally make a card for the Play Date Cafe creativity challenge #13. It was such a fun card to make :)
Addendum: I also just realized that the colors are close to the colorQ challenge this week. Yay!

I wanted to stay fairly simple and I also wanted to mix up how I used the colors a bit. Normally I would have the turquoise and red as the majority colors, but I went with red, black and white as the main and turquoise as the accent. A subtle difference but one nonetheless :) Also, I've been drawn to my Garden of Life stamp set from Papertrey Ink as of late - when I sit down to do a project I just find myself reaching for it. Funny how that works sometimes, those creativity moods :)
Well, thanks so much for stopping by and reading my ramblings :)

Pretty in pink

Happy Sunday folks! Well, it was happy, up until about 6 pm, when the AFC Championship game ended and so did the Jets playoff run. *Sniff*
I consoled myself by heading to my craft room. I made a card for the new Crazy 4 Challenges which is to make a card using pink as the predominant color. I had a baby girl card in mind when I started but it morphed into a general card. So much for plans :)

I'm loving cardstock flowers! They are cut with the nesties blossoms dies then hand crumpled. Mona has a tutorial on her blog (Cupcake's Creations) for tissue paper flowers and that's where I first came across this embellishment. She has the most stunning flowers and, well, creations in general - you can't help but be inspired :) And, let me tell you, I've used the heck out of those flowers since coming across them :)
Well, thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back in a day or two with a little something for the newest JUGs and Play date cafe challenges.

Another first!

How excited am I?!?!?!  This is my first submission as a DT member for the Pile it on challenge blog - it's challenge #3 over there and the theme is "warm wishes". While the theme would lend itself nicely to a wintry card, I decided to go with a warmer sentiment, a "get well" card of sorts.

The other challenges I targeted are as follows;
  • Cooking it up with Katie ~ Use a "non human" image (I sorta cheated as I used a plant :D), add some texture, and use a product you've never used before (I used my Cricut Walk in My Garden cartridge which was a recent purchase)
  • Just Buggin' ~ Make a monochromatic card, use your cricut (the vase, stem and daisy were cut with the cricut)
  • Treehouse Stamps Blog ~ Get well soon (well, sort of :D)
  • Crafty Calendar Challenge ~ Keeping warm - use a warm color scheme (I used Papertrey Ink's terra cotta tile, melon berry, and vintage cream as well as DCWAV textured cardstock)
  • Quixotic Challenges ~ Ink up an old stamp (I inked up Papertrey Ink's Garden of Life, which was one of my first stamp purchases)
  • Spoon Full of Sugar ~ Layer challenge #87 - use layers on your cards
  • Practical Scrappers ~ Embossing (I used both dry and heat embossing)
  • Crafty Ann ~ Embossing
  • Taylored Expressions ~ Sketch challenge #98

Hope ya'll like it! Head on over to Pile it on! to check out the creations of the other DT members!

On another note, we had a fabulous time in Orlando! My DH went to lots of lectures and I got to play with my friend - lots of shopping and giggling :) We also saw friends from school whom we haven't seen in 7 years! All of us got together for lunch one afternoon and spent hours talking and at times I was laughing so hard I was crying! Isn't it great when you can just pick up where you left off with old friends - even though you may not have seen them for years, you just pick up where you left off. It is truly special :)
So, that's about it for now. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!

So excited!

Good evening folks!
Got some exciting news I'd love to share with you all - I received an email from Dalis over at the Pile it on! Challenge blog asking if I would like to be on the design team!!!! Lil ol' me :)
I'm so excited and honored that the gals over there would consider asking me. I really looking forward to contributing to the challenges and making new cyber friends. I am super psyched about the experience in general. So, sincerely ladies, thank you so much for this opportunity - I really appreciate it!
Since I didn't want to just post and run, I made a super quick card for Annabelle Stamps Sketch Challenge #9. This week has been CrAzY for me - so much to do at work. We just got back from vacation and I am trying to catch up at work while also trying to get ahead to cover my basis while we're away in Orlando. I know, right? It's a conundrum. The hubs and I (along with wonderful friends) are heading down that way for a 5 day conference; however, my friend and I will probably be having more fun than attending meetings - and I'm ok with that :) Bet by this time, your wondering "when will she get to her card?" - well wonder no more....

This card also qualifies for the Just Us Girls challenge #15 which is to put stitching on a card. Yeah!

So there it is - what started as a super busy, don't-know-where-to-start kinda week suddenly became more a ton more bearable due to some super awesome news from the Pile it on! group :) Thanks again ladies!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #21

Howdy folks!
Hope your week is off to a great start. I know mine is *GRIN* - I've got some news to share later this week on the ol' blog-o. Stay tuned...
I made a card for Dawn's Color Challenge. Wow - gotta say, this one was tough for me! After quickly glancing at the colors, I really thought I could put something together kinda quickly but my mojo had other ideas - like sleeping on the job :)
I do like the way it ultimately turned out but there's some sweat, blood and tears in that one (well, maybe not tears....I'd have bigger issues if that were the case :D). Really, there was blood though - I stabbed my thumb with my incredibly sharp scissors. Those suckers are dangerous :)

I used Turning a New Leaf from Papertrey Ink (PTI) to stamp the background in versamark ink then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. There are scattered roses from Garden of Life (PTI) stamped in the background in Aqua Mist. I colored one of the blossoms with my copics (BG001 and BG11). The sentiment, from Everyday Button Bits (PTI), was stamped in dark chocolate.
That's all for this evening. I'm starting to fade fast - time for beddy-bye :) G'night!
Thanks for stopping by!

A non-traditional valentine

Evening folks.
It's so nice to be back creating, although I must admit, ideas are flowing s-l-o-w-l-y. Think my brain is still on vacation :)
I managed to sit down a create a valentine's card for my sweet, sweet husband. He's definitely not into "frilly" so I kept it pretty CAS. Although, I am pretty sure he'd say he liked anything I made, even if it was pink and girl-ified to the Nth degree. Probably wouldn't even get much of a reaction from him so it wouldn't even be fun to do it as a joke :) He's so supportive - trust me, I thank my lucky stars every single day :)
On to the card....

Of course I had to incorporate a few challenges :) First is the Just Us Girls Challenge #15, which was to use stitching on a card, while the color inspiration came from the Play Date Cafe's Creativity Challenge #11 (gold, silver, black and white). I thought those colors could lend themselves well to a masculine card. I distressed the edges of the paper for a bit of texture.
Well, it has been a nice, relaxing but productive weekend. Productive aside from Saturday, which was spent watching football. I'm a Jets fan and my hubs is a Cowboys fan so the weekend was good to us! Go Jets and Cowboys!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I'm baaaaack.......

Wow - it has been a loooong time since I last posted. My poor, neglected blog.....
First off, I want to wish each and everyone of you and yours a wonderful 2010!
I had a WONDERFUL holiday with my family - it was extended by a few days thanks to Continental airlines (they canceled a flight so it took a few days to find a series of flights to get me back to Knoxville). But how can I complain about an extended vacation :)
No that I'm back it's time to start papercrafting again!
I'm gonna cheat a little on this post though, as I only arrived home last Wed (late) and we had company for a few days so I haven't created anything since I returned. But in my desire to want to post SOMETHING, I decided to post this card I made a while back, for no particular challenge but it fits for this week's Crazy 4 Challenges. The challenge is to create a birthday card.

Now to get back into the swing of things and start creating again :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!
