More tempting paper...

... from Paper Temptress!

If you're looking for my JUGS post, click HERE or scroll down... way down :)

If you're looking for my Pile It On post, click HERE or scroll down.

For this card I chose red pepper skinny columns from Paper Temptress. It has wonderful texture and weight. The texture is provided by multiple, skinny columns, however, it embosses beautifully as well.

Here's a close up...

This card qualifies for the following challenges;
Play Date Cafe - color combo
Lexi's Creations - 3D
Practical Scrappers - border punches or decorative scissors
Papertake Weekly - in stitches
ABC Challenge - Xtra dimension

The paper roses were made with raspberry fizz card stock following THIS TUTORIAL. If you search for "spiral paper rose", many tutorials will pop up, including a few videos. You can make your roses as large or as small as you wish - just draw your spiral larger for a larger flower. It literally took me 5 minutes to make 3. Easy, peasy - gotta love it!

Have a great evening and thanks so much for stopping by!!!

One layer card

If you're looking for my JUGS post, click HERE or scroll down... way down :)

If you're looking for my Pile It On post, click HERE or scroll down.

Howdy!

I love clean and simple cards and make them occasionally. But I really don't do one layer cards that often at all - so here's one I attempted for the latest Play Date Cafe Color Challenge.

This card also qualifies for the Simply Saturday Challenge too - the challenge is to create a simple layout with a repeated image.

This stamp set is a new one (I got it in the mail on Thurs and ordered it the previous Mon - how fast is that?!?!) from Wplus9 Design Studio and I am IN LOVE!!! I really wanted a versatile, interchangeable, whimsical tree set and this Funky Foliage set is AWESOME!!! I can't wait to use it more. Check out their site - great stamp sets, great prices and super fast shipping. So I stamped the trees in orange, hawaiian shores and lady bug then added the tree trunks. The outer border was drawn with a chocolate spica pen.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Playin' with paper: Pile It On #25

If you are looking for my JUGS post, click HERE or scroll down... ;)

Happy Sunday all! Time to Pile It On again!

This week, the challenge at Pile It On is ...

Fold it, bake it, do something with it... paper that is.

Basically we want you do do something fancy with paper - special folds, fancy designs, different paper media - just do something fun with paper :)

The sponsor this week is Paper Temptress.

Paper Temptress generously donated paper and ribbon for the DT to use in their projects this week. One lucky participant this week will receive a $25 Gift Certificate from Paper Temptress! Check out the Pile It On site for additional information on our sponsor.

Here's my take on the challenge;

This card fits for the following challenges;
Pile it On: do something fun with paper
Kah-wink-e-dink: free for all
Crafty Creations: add shine or bling to your project
Fresh Brewed: anything goes
I Did It Creations Challenge: 3-D...add dimension
ABC challenge: Xtra dimension
Digi Doodle Shop Best: anything goes
Sew Many Challenges: anything goes

Since the weather has been blistering hot here for the past week, I decided a winter card was in order. I decided to get a jump on my Christmas cards.

For the background, I used alcohol inks from Ranger (Stream, Lettuce, Silver mixative) on this beautiful glossy cardstock from Paper Temptress. I put a few drops of each color on a felt pad and sponged it around the glossy cardstock. I then took some colorless blender (Copic), added it to the felt and sponged it around to blend the colors. I really love the effect - there's a great video tutorial from Tim Holtz tutorial HERE. Then stamped a few poinsettias from Peaceful Poinsettia in versamark and gold embossed on top of the inked paper. The sentiment is a dimensional sticker from Anna Griffin. The beautiful gold, shiny ribbon is also from Paper Temptress.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please take some time to view the blogs of the other PIO gals and see there gorgeous creations - their links are in my side bar.

Felt comfy chair

Hi all!!!

If you are looking for my JUGS post, click HERE or scroll down... ;)

Hi all!
Here's a card for the most recent colourQ challenge. I love their color challenges! I did find this combo a bit challenging - I had a hard time coming up with a concept. Finally one happened through my mind but it was constantly changing as the card came together :)

I so wanted to use my new A Little Argyle stamp set since it arrived a few days ago. This seemed to be a great opportunity! What a great set to stamp with - very versatile and easy to use. The little chair, from On My Couch,  was stamped on simply chartreuse felt and cut out by hand (realized after that I owned the dies - LOL!).  This is another set that I recently purchased but can see using the heck out of. Speaking of using the heck out of a product, I think this is the first time I haven't used the linen texture plate on a project since I got it! I LOVE it!!! I stamped the lamp and paper-pieced with a previously stamped piece of card stock.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you're having a great weekend!

BBQ Apron: JUGS #39

Time for a new Just Us Girls template challenge!

Our hostess this week, Maria, is challenging all of us to make an apron card. Don't know how to make an apron card?... No problem! Maria has posted a link to a tutorial, located HERE.

These little cards are so cute and perfect for summer BBQ party invitations or birthday cards for those BBQing folks in your life.

Here's a close up view...

I actually stamped a white argyle pattern on the red felt to represent a dish towel, but the pigment ink didn't like the felt a whole lot :(  The little BBQ tools were cut using my Cricut (I've been going crazy on that thing!) from silver card stock. Another freebie .svg file for all you Sure Cuts A Lot users -- HERE. This site is a tremendous source of .svg files. The "You're invited" part slips out of the pocket but I forgot to get a picture of that. Perhaps I'll add one this weekend...

If you already haven't, see the JUGS site for all the challenge deets. Don't forget to swing by the blogs of the other JUGS DT gals and show them a little love :) Their links are posted on the side bar of my blog. Thanks so much for playing along with Just Us Girls - we love seeing your creations and always appreciate your support! Thanks to all that participated in Alicia's color challenge last week- talk about stunning creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Papertrey June Blog Hop

Another month down, another Papertrey Blog Hop! I love this time of the month 'cause it usually means I've received my new Papertrey goodies :)

The Blog Hop Challenge this month is to use your favorite Papertrey color combos. The real challenge for me was to narrow it down to a favorite combo - I mean, really, pick one?!?! LOL!
This one I ended up choosing is a new combo for me but I am in love :)

I chose..

Raspberry Fizz, Dark Chocolate, Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse and White

And the inside...

Aren't the natural colors with a pop of bright raspberry really fun?!?  I really love making these simple, fun cards - ones where I can stamp like crazy (not necessarily precisely either, which goes against my Type A personality :)) or color to my heart's content. So cathartic... Hummm, it's funny. I'm such a left brained person that up until about a year and a half ago I couldn't have imagined paper crafting as "cathartic" - funny how things change :) Now, it's pretty much an obsession! Sorry, I digress...

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you are all enjoying your blog hop. I'm off to peruse the other participants - can't wait to look around at all the inspiring projects :)

TTFN,

Ingredients (all Papertrey Ink unless otherwise stated):

Other: Dark Chocolate buttons, Simply Chartreuse ribbon, Mat Stack 2 die, Polka dot impression plate, circle nesties

Splash o' Blue

Howdy folks!

The most recent challenge over at the Play Date Cafe is another color splash! YAY! I *heart* the color splash challenges - just love those punches of color on an otherwise monochromatic card. This week, the color to be highlighted is blue.

I need to make a few sympathy cards - not too many in my stash. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the soft stone card stock behind the image is textured with an impression plate (linen) from PTI. It adds such a lovely, subtle texture. The ribbon is seam binding colored with a copic marker (B02) - are these markers not the most fantastic things?!?! I really don't know what I'd do without them... there must be some sort of support group for this problem.... :) But seriously, I L-O-V-E them.

Hope you are all having a fabulous start to the week! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Father's Day!!!

*** I've been on a posting roll so click HERE for my Just Us Girls post :) ***

To all the Dads out there - Have a very happy, happy day!

This is a picture of my dad (right) and my dad-in-law in Dec 2008. They had helped us put up some fencing (plus build the gate you see here) for our dogs and we had to take a picture to commemorate completion of the project. They even posted a little sign (seen between them) that read - "Merry Christmas from "the dads"" and instead of just posing shaking hands, they decided to shake the drill :) Too funny! Two years later, the gate and fence are holding strong and looking great - they do good work. I just may have to hire them again :D

Tracy and I consider ourselves so very lucky to have such wonderful, loving, knowledgeable, and doting parents. We are not, shall we say, "wise" in the ways of home improvement, so their experience and knowledge are a definite blessing :) We know how completely fortunate we are to have parents that are so involved in our lives, are so very proud and love us unconditionally. So, thanks for everything - especially all the little things - you've done throughout our lives to make us the people we are today.

This is a card I made for my dad (hopefully he's received it by now, 'cause he reads my blog :)). I'm a daddy's girl, no doubt about it. I grew up following my father everywhere, doing everything he did. He passed on a curiosity for the world around me (he's a retired biology teacher), always pointing out a flower, bug, constellation in the night sky... you name it. Always followed by a description or explanation of some sort. To this day, I still look inquisitively around me and often think of my dad. Even though were far apart right now, I hope he realizes the influence he still has in my life :)
See, I told you I was lucky!

Happy Father's Day to our dads! We love you!!!!

The card applies for the following challenges;
Cupcake Craft Challenges - for the boys
Incy Wincy Designs Challenge - one for the boys
CAS-tastic Challenges - father's day card
Crafty Cardmakers - cards for men
A Crafty Little Place - one for the boys

Pure poppy

*** ADDENDUM: I'm such a forgetful person lately - Argh!!!! I forgot to post the fact that I used Mercy's Tuesday sketch for this card. DUH! I'm to late to enter for the favs but I did love the sketch and thought it was perfect for what I had in mind. The sketch itself is posted below my card. Silly me... ***

Hi ya!

Had a nice relaxing Saturday - slept in a little, went to the gym, surfed the web, cleaned a little, then shopped at the local scrapbook superstore :)

I had the opportunity to play a little in my craft room this evening and came up with this little number for the latest ColourQ challenge.

I made the poppy using the nesties poppy dies. Once I had them cut from the pure poppy cardstock (PTI) cut each of the petals close to the center, overlapped and fixed in place with glue. I then used a piece of black felt, also cut with the poppy die, and a yellow brad to finish off the center. The poppy was dry embossed with the linen impression plate from PTI for a little texture.

It also qualifies for;
Crazy for Challenges - paper flowers
A Spoon Full of Sugar - sunshiny colors
Crafty Anne's Challenge - embossing
Lord Have Mercy - Tuesday sketch

Also, Annabelle Stamps has a new stamp release happening soon. They're offering a chance to win a free stamp set over at there blog -> HERE. Check it out!!!

Have a great weekend. Thanks so much for stopping by!

JUGS 38: You scream, I scream...

...we all scream for ice cream!!!

Time for a new challenge at Just Us Girls! This week, we have a color challenge hosted by Alicia. She chose the lovely color combination of pink, chocolate and vanilla - a perfect tribute to a summer favorite, ice cream!

The graphic is so YUM-MAY!!!! Can't you just taste it?!!

On to my project inspired by sweet, drippy, sticky goodness....

This card also qualifies for the Shabby Tea Room Challenge - Summer Fun.

The ice cream cone is a free .svg file for use with the Cricut---> Here. The file is a freebie from SVG Cuts - a great website with a lot of free .svg files (for those of you who own a Cricut and have Sure Cuts A Lot software). I used glossy accents to adhere glitter (the glitter is supposed to be clear and actually looked as if it had more pinkish hues prior to adding it to my card - go figure :)). The background DP is from Die Cuts With a View Garden Party - I love the paper stacks from DCWV - I bought a few from Joanne's for 40% off and I really like the patterns and weight of the paper.

Make sure you swing by JUGS and play along using the awesome color combo - see the site for all the details! Please check out all my fellow talented DT members - links are listed on my sidebar. We love seeing your fantastic creations!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello all!

Happy Saturday! We're off to spend the day with friends - I'm so excited:)

Are you ready to get digital?! Pam is our lovely hostess over at Just Us Girls this week and is challenging us to go digital! Digis can be so fun and versatile - you can make them any size and change colors in photo editing software. Don't have any digis? Lauren has a a freebie digi stamp and papers for you to try! See the JUGS site for the links :)

Lauren Meader from My Time Made Easy has generously provided the JUGS DT with a digital set to use :)  She is also giving a free digital stamp set AND digital paper package to one lucky participant!!! So make sure you head on over to the JUGS site and check out the details of the challenge.

I went digital with this project...

I made a gift set containing shower gel and body lotion (lavender scented). The tote is a template from Suzanne Dean - it's a download under tote/gift bag pdf HERE. It was SUPER easy to put together! The label on the tote and the circular sentiment and flower on the card are from the digital set I chose, Take Time for Petal Perfection from My Time Made Easy. I added color and combined the images in Photoshop - it was pretty easy. For any one unfamiliar with Photoshop and wishing to know how to use it to edit digis, Kristina Werner has an excellent video tutorial on her site (the tutorial is on making a digital card template but the same principles apply). The next two photos show the digital label and sentiment in detail...

The label was plain to start and I added the butterflies, sentiments and flowers separately so you can appreciate how customizable these sets are.

This final photo shows the side of the tote...

Pam has a great step-wise take on her project illustrating how she altered the image for her JUGS project with Photoshop - take a look HERE.

Sadly, we are bidding a fond farewell to the wonderful Mona as she steps down as a JUGS DT member :( :( :(.  This amazingly talented gal is pursuing other paper crafting opportunities and as much as we'd like to do it all sometimes, it just is not possible... Best wishes in your future endeavors, Mona!!!  We will surely miss you and your fabulous creations. Please take a moment and stop by her blog to wish her luck! I know I'll be checking in to see the all your gorgeous eye candy, my wonderful friend!

I didn't have time to select the blog candy winner today so I'll do it tomorrow evening - stay tuned!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!! Hope you enjoy!
